I have studied and practiced a large variety of Asian and Western martial arts for over 35 years. I speak fluent Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. I hold a PhD degree from MIT, and was employed as a Senior Researcher in Speech Recognition and Artificial Intelligence at IBM, Apple Computer, and Microsoft for over 25 years. I am a long-time student of Tai Chi master Benjamin Lo. In my teaching of small group and private classes, I attempt to replicate and pass along as much of Ben Lo's superb art as possible. Training in the standard Zheng Manqing 37-posture sequence and push-hands is carefully paced and tailored to students' individual training goals, physical condition, and prior experience. Requests for instruction in advanced push-hands, self-defense applications, and Taiji sword will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Private lesson tuition: $100 USD / hour (¥ 7,000 JPY)
Semi-private (2 or more): $75 / hour per person (¥5,000 JPY/ person)
There are no exceptions to the above rates, except the following:
1. A new student who has never met me can request a free 30 minute introductory session, where I will explain basics about the training system and we will jointly decide whether it fits the student's training goals.
2. Martial artists with substantial experience and/or rank in Tai Chi
or other styles please request one free "meet up" session where you
can experience my style of interactive Tai Chi training and compare it to what you've trained in the past. In this case, please refer to the Meetup Guidelines posted under the Reader Beware tab on this site for detailed requirements.
3. In cases of demonstrated need and genuine inability to pay, reduced or elminated fees can be arranged but ONLY through prior written consultation and agreement with instructor.
THERE ARE NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS
TO THE TUITION FEE POLICY
